Artistic Policy

We are passionate about platforming emerging artists that reflect the diversity of our local community, providing an arena for them to be playful, to take risks, to fail, to succeed.

Our 2024/2025 programming model

We have a festival-based programme, with 4 festivals currently planned for 2024/2025. We’re interested in work that sparks conversation, entertains our audiences, and tells a good story. The type of shows we programme vary and can be formally experimental, political, silly, heartwarming – or all these things in one. We aim to be flexible with the themes of our festivals, ensuring we keep our finger on the pulse of what matters to our community.

Alongside the festivals, we programme shows and events year-round:

  • Quarterly Neighbourhood Days - a pay-what-you-can day of creative activities and free food for our local neighbourhood

  • Half-term children’s shows

  • An eclectic range of bar events every month (e.g. comedy shows, open mics, games nights etc)

  • Festive season events

  • Artist Meet ‘n’ Greets

  • And more!

Outside of our artistic programme, we also hire out our spaces for rehearsals, workshops, film shoots, and shows. Head to our Venue Hire page for more information.

What We Look For

We are interested in a varied mixture of work:

  • Experimental, exciting new work that has something interesting to say about the world we live in (for festivals)

  • Bar events such as stand up comedy, open mics, spoken word, and music (for year-round programme)

  • Work that is geared toward our local Streatham community (for Neighbourhood Days)

  • Shows & programmes for children (for Neighbourhood Days and half-term offerings)

How We Programme

We programme our festivals through a mixture of open calls and curation. Do keep a look out on our socials, newsletters and Jobs & Opportunities Page for these. Alternatively, you can get in contact if you have a show or event you would like to pitch!

When getting in contact…

  • Email us a completed Programming Form - include as much information as possible, such as documentation, videos, photos, reviews, funding arrangements etcetera.

  • If you have a Marketing Pack, send that over as well.

For shows applying for funding:

  • Any Arts Council England (ACE) funding applications need to be submitted a minimum of 6 months prior to the beginning of the project (including R&D, rehearsals etcetera).

  • We ask that artists get in touch with us before applying for funds, so that they can include our costs in their application.

Fees and Info:

  • Box office split or hire deals

  • Technician is provided

  • We usually have 1-2 night shows (subject to Creative Director’s decision)

If you have any further questions about programming at SSP or if you’d like to pitch something to us, contact us at info@streathamspaceproject.co.uk
