Interactive Draw Along Workshop & Talk with Frann Preston-Gannon

Frann Preston-Gannon, award-winning author and illustrator gives a draw-along workshop and talk for young children. 

Join Frann as she talks about her biggest project, I am the Seed That Grew the Tree, a gorgeous illustrated book of poetry that was Waterstones Gift of the Year 2018. In this interactive workshop, Frann will discuss her life as an illustrator and will teach budding young artists how to draw a variety of different animals. Her new book, A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes and Poems, is published this month. Frann is happy to sign her books, which will be available to buy on the day.

Talks and Discussion about modern publishing and how to get published from two very different authors.

Amanda Brookfield and Lev Parikian are two very different authors in conversation with Streatham Literature Festival's Hannah Taylor, who works for a big publisher. In this session, they will talk about the authors' latest books, their huge experience of how the world of publishing works and how it is evolving for the future. If you want to learn about getting published, this is for you.

Hamed Amiri discusses his family's journey from Afghanistan to the UK as refugees - A Story of Hope - with Hamza Jahanzeb - a Bookseller Rising Star 2020. 

Hamed Amiri is the author of The Boy with Two Hearts: A Story of Hope (Icon books, 2020). Radio 4 Book of the Week in June 2020. He received the Inspiring the Next Generation Award from the University of South Wales in 2016 for services to education and young people. In this session, Hamza will interview Hamed about his ground-breaking book.

Abiola Oni, Temi Mwale and Siana Bangura, essayists from Slay in Your Lane's Loud Black Girls debate "what's next?" with chair Marcelle Mateki Akita, Producer of the Royal African Society‘s Africa Writes festival hosted at the British Library.

Talks and a panel discussion with three writers from the Loud Black Girls anthology of Black British writing, edited and curated by Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinene, authors of the acclaimed Slay In Your Lane, featuring essays from the diverse voices of twenty established and emerging black British writers.  

Abiola Oni: 'Finding Myself in Britain'

Temi Mwale: 'Building Peace: The Case for Centring Healing in our Approach to Address Violence'

Siana Bangura: 'Who built it and with what wood?': A Black Feminist 10-point (ish) Programme for Transformation.
