Access Information

Introduction

Welcome to Streatham Space Project – a hub of arts, creativity and community in the heart of Streatham in south west London. We welcome everybody here, and aim to make the venue and every event as accessible as possible. The venue is all one level, with wide corridors and no stairs. We are constantly working towards improving the provisions that we have, working with Attitude Is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice to inform our evolution into a fully accessible multi-arts venue.

A Word document, an easy-read document and a visual access guide (currently under construction) is also available for download.

  • Step free access:

All of our spaces are step-free – from entrance to performance spaces, bar, box office, back stage and toilets.

There are 3 steps up to access the stage if performing – please contact us beforehand if you are performing so we can arrange to cater for your requirements.

    Toilets:

We have 2 fully accessible toilets – one Front of House and one backstage. There is one ambulant cubicle in the women’s toilets, and one ambulant cubicle in the men’s toilets.

    Bar:

We have a lowered bar for accessible bar and box office service.

  • Companion tickets:

We offer a 50% discounted ticket for companions, personal assistants and support workers.

    Seating/Standing at shows:

Our seating plan is fully flexible, meaning that we can take seats out to accommodate various access needs, such as wheelchair provision. For standing shows, we will section off an area near the front of the stage which will provide a full view for both standing and seated audience members.

    How to apply:

Please get in touch with Tali on hello@streathamspaceproject.co.uk ahead of the event date, describing your requirements and what service you would like to book.

  • We welcome attendees who need to bring medicines, food or drink to manage a medical condition, or medical equipment. If you have any concerns, please get in contact with us.

If there is an emergency, please approach our front-of-house staff and ask for the Duty Manager.

  • We currently do not offer Audio Enhancement such as loops, intra red or mobile connect systems. The availability of British Sign Language, Captioning, Audio Description and specific Relaxed Performances are dependent on individual performances - please get in touch to confirm with us.

  • Assistant dogs are welcome in our venue.

  • Some shows might include the use of strobe-lighting. In such cases, the information will be posted on the event page and there will also be a sign posted on the door.

If you are unsure, please approach our Duty Manager or Front of House staff to let us know.

Arrival Guide

Venue Opening Times

SSP is only open when we have an event on – please check the website for our program of events, with specific times for each one. For drop ins and viewings, we are generally open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 5.30pm.

Arriving at the venue

You enter the foyer through the main entrance, which then opens out to our bright and airy Bar and Box Office area – please approach the Bar/Box Office and speak to our lovely Front of House team, who will be able to direct you to the Access Officer on shift, who can address any questions, suggestions or concerns you might have.

The Bar area is separate from the main performance area – the Stage Space. Ticket inspection will happen usually around 15 minutes before the show is due to start, and will happen near the main entrance, at the door of the Stage Space. The Duty Manager will announce when they are opening the doors – this is when you will go to the Stage Space doors and present your ticket(s).

If you require early access to an event to avoid crowds, please contact Tali on access@streathamspaceproject.co.uk

Getting your tickets:

There is a wide walkway from the main entrance direct to the lowered Bar where our Box Office is – here you can buy your tickets. To enter the event, tickets can be shown on a device, or you may want to print them out at home, and show these to the Duty Manager when they open the doors for the show – they will announce when they are about to do this on the in-house tannoy.
